ARAKA

Synchronize with the world and master its rhythm to solve puzzles in an evolutionary 3D environment, but be careful, with as few moves as possible !

Principle and Intent :

Araka is a 3D puzzle game in which you controls an avatar and travels through grid levels. Level's topology changes according to the player’s movements. The player must understand the rhythm of his environment and adapt to this rhythm in order to solve the puzzle of each level. We intended to impose a rhythm on the player thanks to the environment and push him to learn and adapt according to this rhythm, to offer short windows of opportunity to the player, whose prerequisites can be easily recreated in order to push the player to reproduce these patterns during his puzzle resolution, and to play with the notion of tempo and off tempo, changing the player’s vision on the level.

The main mechanics :

Araka’s main mechanism is the TempoTile. It is a tile that changes state depending on the player’s movement. Its two states are the raised and lowered state. When the TempoTile is activated, it moves two blocks in height relative to its lowered state.

There are three types of TempoTiles, each with its own color and rhythm :

• Orange changes state with each movement of the player.
• The Violette changes state every two movements of the player.
• The Green changes state every three movements of the player.
